The 17th September marked a significant milestone for CCS as our Head of Marketing, Lois, received an exclusive invitation to represent our organisation at the prestigious House of Lords. The event was the launch of the Care Workers’ Advisory Board, an initiative developed in partnership with The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC). This momentous occasion underscored the importance of recognising and amplifying the voices of care workers across the UK, a cause that CCS fervently supports.
An Afternoon of Networking and Insights
The event was a fantastic opportunity for networking with fellow leaders and changemakers within the care sector. Attendees included influential figures from various organisations, all united by a common goal: to enhance the support and recognition for care workers who tirelessly serve our communities. The atmosphere was abuzz with discussions on innovative strategies and collaborative efforts aimed at improving the care sector’s landscape.
Among the key speakers was Stephen Kinnock, Minister of State in the Department of Health and Social Care. His address provided valuable insights into the government’s vision for the future of care work in the UK. Kinnock emphasised the critical role care workers play in the nation’s healthcare system, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. His words resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the necessity for legislative support and adequate resources for care workers.
The Launch of the Care Workers’ Advisory Board
The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the official launch of the Care Workers’ Advisory Board. This board is set to become a pivotal platform for care workers, offering them a voice in policy discussions and decisions that directly impact their profession. By bringing together a diverse group of care workers from across the UK, the board aims to address pressing issues such as working conditions, mental health support, and career development opportunities.
Lois, representing CCS, expressed immense pride in being part of this groundbreaking initiative. “The establishment of the Care Workers’ Advisory Board is a monumental step towards ensuring that the voices of care workers are not only heard but acted upon,” Lois remarked. “At CCS, we believe in the power of advocacy and collaboration to drive meaningful change. We are honoured to support this project and look forward to contributing to its success.”
