Today, we are thrilled to share even more reasons to be proud. We have fifteen remarkable finalists in the regional Great British Care Awards. These exceptional individuals and teams represent All Care, Merseycare Julie Ann, and Call-In Homecare.
Celebrating Excellence in Social Care
The Great British Care Awards recognise excellence across the care sector. They celebrate individuals who have made a significant impact in the lives of those they care for. This year, our finalists have shown exceptional dedication and passion. Let’s take a closer look at their achievements.
Outstanding Contribution to Social Care
CCS’ Group Head of Quality and Compliance Val Malley has been nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award. Val’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have made a profound impact on our business over the years. Her dedication to enhancing the lives of others is truly inspiring, and we continually appreciate the support she offers all of our regional teams.
Excellence in Home Care
Chris Koymans and All Care have been nominated for the Home Care Employer Award. Their leadership and commitment to providing exceptional care services have set a high standard in the industry. Chris is a well respected leader at All Care who encourages her teams with innovative approaches. She creates supportive work environments, ensuring both staff and service users feel valued and cared for.
On behalf of the All Care team, Chris shared “All Care are privileged to be entrusted with the care of our service users, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone. We empower our staff to realise their full potential. Across our 22 locations, ranging from vibrant urban centres to tranquil rural settings, we consistently exceed expectations to bring joy and support to all. Each location is uniquely designed to meet the specific needs of its community, ensuring personalised and compassionate care is given throughout.”
Recognising Ancillary Workers
Sophia Barker has been nominated for the Ancillary Worker Award. Her team shared “Sophia’s attention to detail and dedication to maintaining a clean and safe environment have made a significant difference in the everyday lives of our service users. Her contribution is vital to the well-being and comfort of everyone she supports.”
Excellence in Coordination
Jo Barro and Gemma Kingston have both been nominated for the Home Care Coordinator Award. Jo and Gemma’s organisational skills and ability to manage complex care plans have ensured seamless service delivery for All Care East Sussex and Thames Valley.
When discussing her award, Jo shared “I have 14 years experience in care, joining All-Care 2021. I have found a industry I love that has allowed me progression into a Co-ordinator role. Knowing I can make a difference to the lives of carers and customers every day is a joy – I feel very lucky to do what I do.” They are strong team members and continually strive to support everyone they come into contact with.
Our team also sat down with Gemma to hear about her experience in care and being a finalist. She shared “As a dedicated home care coordinator, I find immense fulfilment in ensuring our customers receive compassionate, personalised care. My passion for enhancing quality of life , drives me to connect customers to our skilled caregivers. Every day, I embrace the opportunity to make positive impact with that extra bit of magic.”
Promoting Dignity in Care
Laiher Romano has been nominated for the Dignity in Care Award. Laiher’s compassionate approach and commitment to preserving the dignity of every service user are exemplary. They have two children, aged 33 and 18. Previously they worked in hospitality, but started care work 17 years ago to fit in with their young child and have been with the same care agency since. They shared “I love my job as I like to make a difference and brighten up their day.”
Developing Our Workforce
Marek Majewski and Charity Hayler-King have been nominated for the Workforce Development Award. Their focus on training and developing our staff ensures that All Care remains at the forefront of innovation and best practice.
Marek is an experienced Trainer, Auditor and Moving and Handling Advisor, in both private and public care sector. He has been working for over 20 years in care industry. With a wide range of interest in Learning and Development, he enjoys the challenge of supporting variety of staff training needs.
Charity, a previous winner of the prestigious GBCA, shared “It’s important for me to be able to promote an inclusive and learning culture amongst my team. There are exciting career journeys in care to be had, I want to be part of opening up multiple opportunities for my colleagues from all backgrounds to encourage a skilled and motivated team.”
Marek and Charity’s efforts have created a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Excellence in Management
Isle of Wight Service Manager Claire Martin has been nominated for the Home Care Manager Award. Claire’s leadership and dedication to her team have fostered an environment where excellence is the norm. Her ability to inspire and motivate her staff ensures high-quality care for all service users. The whole team adore care and are grateful for her exceptional support.
We spoke with Claire about her journey to leading as team. She shared “I’m a dedicated Registered Manager with All Care on the Isle of Wight. I’m passionate about the well-being of my Service Users and my Team, yet I’m realistic to expectations. I’m a strong leader and will push the Team with honesty and integrity for their personal gain and self-reward.”
Innovative Care Planning
Natalie Reed has been nominated for the Care Assessor/Careplanner Award. Natalie’s innovative approach to care planning has significantly improved the quality of life for our service users and learning for her team. With over 10 years of experience in the care industry, she is passionate about ensuring that her care plans are tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer. Her dedication to this sector is driven by a deep commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives.
Championing New Talent
Zie Sibanda has been nominated for the Care Newcomer Award. Zie’s enthusiasm and commitment to learning have quickly made him an integral part of the All Care team. Upon finding out he was a finalist, Zie shared “I’m humbled to be nominated for this award. I’m truly grateful for the warm welcome that I received by the All-Care team. I’m fully committed to enhancing the quality of lives of our customers. I embrace all challenges and opportunities look forward to the future working in the care industry.”
Recognising Teamwork
The Recruitment Team (Scotland) has been nominated for the Three R’s Award. Their efforts in recruiting, retaining, and rewarding staff have been crucial to exceptional growth across Scotland. Their dedication ensures that we have the best people providing care to our service users.
Excellence in Care Work
Mary Prentice from MerseyCare Julie Ann has been nominated for the Care Worker of the Year Award. Mary’s compassion and dedication to her role have made her a beloved figure among service users and colleagues alike. Her commitment to going above and beyond is truly inspiring to new staff and those she has so kindly supported for years.
Recognising Commitment to Education
Lauren Cox has been nominated for the Three R’s Award. Lauren’s dedication to training and supporting staff has been instrumental in maintaining high standards of care. Her efforts ensure that our team is well-equipped to provide exceptional service. Lauren shared “I am deeply honoured to be nominated for this award. My passion lies in bringing the right talent into our organisation, ensuring we have candidates who are perfectly suited for their roles. Hearing about job satisfaction from our team truly energises me. I am wholeheartedly committed to the sector and making positive impacts everyday.”
Team Spirit
Team RBWM at All Care has been nominated for the Care Team Award. Their cohesive teamwork and dedication to supporting each other have created a positive and productive work environment. Their collective efforts have significantly enhanced the quality of care provided to our service users.
