Monday, January 20th, is often referred to as Blue Monday, supposedly the gloomiest day of the year. But at Clece Care Services (CCS), we chose to turn this day into something much brighter—Brew Monday! This year, we proudly supported The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) by hosting Brew Monday events across our 100 branch locations, encouraging our colleagues to take a well-deserved break, share a warm drink, and check in on one another.
Why Brew Monday Matters
Winter can be a challenging time for many, with shorter days, colder weather, and the post-holiday slump taking a toll on mental well-being. The third Monday of January has long been labelled Blue Monday, based on the idea that people feel particularly low on this day. However, CWC reminds us that instead of letting this narrative bring us down, we can transform it into an opportunity for connection and positivity.
As the CWC shared:
“Don’t let Blue Monday bring you down—turn it into a day of warmth, connection, and positivity for you and those around you.”
At CCS, we embrace this philosophy wholeheartedly. Our teams work tirelessly to provide care and support to those who need it most, and it’s just as important that we take the time to care for each other. That’s why we invited our colleagues across the UK to pause, share a cuppa, and check in with one another.
Bringing People Together Across the UK
With over 100 branches across the country, CCS organised Brew Monday gatherings in local offices, creating spaces where colleagues could step away from their busy schedules to engage in meaningful conversations. Whether it was a quick five-minute chat over a coffee or a longer break filled with laughter and stories, the goal was simple: to make time for each other.
In many of our branches, team members set up tea stations, brought in home-baked treats, and even took part in activities to lift spirits. Some teams shared messages of encouragement, while others used the moment to reflect on the importance of mental well-being in the workplace. It was inspiring to see colleagues support one another, proving that sometimes, the smallest gestures—a smile, a kind word, or a shared cup of tea—can make a world of difference.
Supporting The Care Workers’ Charity
As a company deeply rooted in the care sector, we understand the emotional and physical demands placed on care workers. That’s why we’re proud to support The Care Workers’ Charity, an organisation dedicated to improving the well-being of care professionals. Through financial aid, mental health support, and emergency grants, CWC plays a crucial role in ensuring that care workers receive the help they need.
A Reminder to Check In—Today and Every Day
While Brew Monday is a great initiative to spark conversations, mental well-being isn’t something we should focus on for just one day. At CCS, we encourage our colleagues, friends, and families to check in on their social circles regularly. A simple “How are you?” can open the door to meaningful conversations and provide much-needed support to those who may be struggling.
If you’re reading this, we encourage you to take a moment today to reach out to a friend, colleague, or loved one. Let’s continue spreading warmth and connection, not just on Brew Monday, but every day of the year.
