Relief care

Providing high-quality, specialised care that is fully customised to your unique needs.

At Clece Care Services, we provide reliable Relief care for individuals who require short or long-term relief from caregiving responsibilities for their loved ones.

We understand that sometimes everyone needs a break. This benefits both you and your family.

It’s good to take a respite break to preserve relationships.  For many families, becoming a carer for a parent or spouse can change the dynamics of the relationship.  The person providing the care in the relationship may feel tired, but guilty for feeling tired and not having the energy to be how they want to be, and the person receiving the care may feel they are a burden due to how tired you seem to be. It’s therefore important that everyone gets to take a regular break.

Why choose Relief Care

Familiar and Comfortable Environment

Receiving relief care at home means the person being cared for can stay in familiar surroundings with their own routines, belongings, and comforts. This reduces anxiety and confusion, especially for individuals with dementia or complex needs.

Personalised, One-to-One Support

Unlike in care homes where staff care for multiple residents, home-based relief care provides undivided attention. Carers focus solely on the individual’s needs and preferences, delivering more tailored and responsive care.

Minimises Disruption to Daily Life

Relief care at home maintains normal routines such as sleep, meals, activities, and medication schedules. This stability is particularly beneficial for individuals who may find change unsettling or stressful.

Supports Family Well-being Without Guilt

Family caregivers can take time to rest or attend to other responsibilities, knowing their loved one is safe, happy, and receiving quality care at home. This reduces burnout and provides peace of mind without the emotional strain of a care home stay.

Flexible and Scalable Support

Home relief care can be arranged for just a few hours, overnight stays, or several days—offering flexibility to suit each family’s needs. It’s ideal for both planned breaks and emergencies.

Encourages Trust and Continuity of Care

Using respite care at home helps build familiarity with professional carers, making future care transitions smoother if longer-term support is needed. It also promotes trust and confidence for both the individual and their family.

More information and FAQs

Relief care is a short-term care service that gives regular caregivers a break, while ensuring the individual receiving care continues to get the support they need. It can be provided at home on a one-off or regular basis, from a few hours to several days or weeks.

Relief care supports both caregivers and those they care for. It’s ideal for family members who need time to rest, attend to personal matters, or go on holiday, while ensuring their loved one remains safe, cared for, and comfortable at home.

Relief care can cover a wide range of needs, including personal care (washing, dressing), medication management, meal preparation, companionship, mobility support, and help with household tasks. We tailor each visit to your routine and care requirements.

We can arrange relief care quickly and flexibly, often within 24 to 48 hours. Our team will assess your needs, discuss your preferences, and match you with a trained carer to ensure a seamless handover and continuity of care.

We take time to match carers based on personality and care needs, and we encourage an introductory visit where possible. Our carers are trained to provide reassurance and build trust, helping your loved one feel at ease while you take a well-earned break.

During Your Break

During respite, a Care Assistant can cover all caring responsibilities during the respite period, which can be arranged as a regular scheduled break or on an ad hoc basis, subject to availability.

Our respite care services are designed to provide temporary and long-term relief to primary caregivers. We offer a range of respite care options, including:

  • In-home respite care: Our caregivers can provide care in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to take a break from your caregiving responsibilities.
  • Out-of-home respite care: We can arrange for your loved one to stay in a care facility for a short period of time, giving you the opportunity to take a break or go on vacation.
  • Emergency respite care: We are available to provide emergency respite care services in the event of an unexpected situation.

Care stories

We were nervous about starting care at home, but the team made the process so easy. They took time to understand my mother’s routines and preferences, and the difference in her confidence and wellbeing has been incredible.

Anna R., Daughter of Service User

From the very first visit, the care team made me feel safe, supported, and listened to. They always go the extra mile, and nothing is ever too much trouble. I couldn’t imagine managing at home without them.

Mr. David Ellis, Service User
