Understanding Care Choices
Choosing the right type of care can feel overwhelming especially if it’s your first time exploring support options for yourself or a loved one.
At Clece Care Services, we’re here to make it simple.

Explaining domiciliary care and extra care housing
There are a few main ways to receive care and support, depending on your needs and how independently you want to live.
Clece Care Services provide both domiciliary care and extra care housing, which offer different levels of help and flexibility. While we don’t operate care homes, we’ll explain how they fit into the wider picture so you can understand all your options.
Domiciliary Care (Care at Home)
Domiciliary care means receiving care and support in your own home. It’s ideal for people who want to stay where they’re comfortable but need some help with everyday tasks.
How it works:
- You remain living in your own home.
- A Care Assistant visits at agreed times — this might be once or several times a day.
- Support can include help with washing, dressing, preparing meals, taking medication, or simply providing companionship.
- You decide how much help you need, and it can increase or decrease over time.

Extra Care Housing (Extra Care Schemes)
An Extra Care Scheme offers the best of both worlds: independence with support available when you need it. It’s designed for older people or adults with care needs who want to live in their own apartment but with care on site and a friendly community around them.
You live in your own self-contained flat within a purpose-built housing complex but have shared spaces like lounges, gardens and activity rooms that create a welcoming community. Clece Care Services provides an on-site care team to offer planned or emergency support. Every care plan is personalised; some residents receive regular daily visits, while others just like knowing help is nearby.

Care Homes
Care homes are residential settings for people who need full-time care and supervision, such as those with advanced care needs or health conditions that make it difficult to live independently. Residents move into the care home full-time. Staff are on site 24 hours a day to provide personal care, meals and support. Some care homes also have registered nurses for medical care.
While Clece Care Services offer domiciliary care and extra care schemes across 100 locations in the UK, we do not currently have any care homes.
