Clece Care Services care for those who cared for us. We are privileged to support and care for many wonderful individuals across the United Kingdom who have had diverse careers and dedicated their lives to supporting others. Today, we share the inspiring stories of three remarkable women: Brenda, Enid, and Barbara.
Brenda’s Journey with CRT (Rotherham)
Brenda, a vibrant 90-year-old, has lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication. Her career spanned various secretarial roles in schools and colleges, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Later, she worked as a housing benefit officer for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council until her retirement at 62. Brenda also served as a returning officer during local elections.
In 1958, Brenda married her beloved husband, Phillip. They shared over 64 years of happiness before Phillip’s passing in 2022. Together, they raised a son, Andrew, and a daughter, Ann, and were blessed with three granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. Brenda and Phillip created countless memories, from family holidays in Bridlington to wintering in Spain for 19 years and enjoying cruises.
Brenda’s active lifestyle took an unexpected turn when she broke her ankle in three places while walking from her lounge to the kitchen. This incident led her to receive care from CRT in May 2023. Having experienced CRT’s exceptional care for Phillip, Brenda insisted on their services for herself. She shared:
“I really look forward to the carers coming each day, it is comforting to know that someone is coming to make sure I am alright. I do like to be as independent as possible and do a lot for myself. The care staff always ask if I need anything doing when they visit and offer to do things If I am unable to. It is nice having a friendly face to see every morning and evening and everyone is really friendly.”
Enid’s Life at Lawson House
Enid, 93, has been a resident at our Extra Care Facility in Newcastle, Lawson House, for nearly five years. Her life story is rich with memories and experiences. In 1953, at the age of 22, Enid married her husband, and together they had three daughters, four granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-grandsons.
Enid’s career included working in a wholesale warehouse selling baby clothes and later as a receptionist at a doctor’s surgery for 11 years. She has spent most of her life in Newcastle, with a brief period in Stockton during the Second World War. Enid fondly recalls her childhood, including visits to the cinema, which she accessed by cleaning and trading jam jars for admission. She also treasures the time spent with her grandmother, creating stories from the flames of their coal fire.
Enid had many positive things to say about her care. “I have a lovely flat that is very accommodating for my needs, and we have a beautiful lounge here. The staff here are lovely and are all very helpful.” With Christmas approaching she also spoke about the wonderful events that are hosted at Lawson House and how much she enjoyed them.”
Barbara’s Experience at Lawson House
Barbara, 85, has been a resident at Lawson House for just over a year. Her life has been centered around Newcastle, where she was raised by her grandmother. At 15, Barbara met her husband, and they had a son, Paul. Barbara is also a proud grandmother to two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Barbara’s professional life included roles as a receptionist and telephonist. She values the friendly and supportive environment at Lawson House, where she can maintain her privacy while receiving the care she needs. Barbara enjoys regular visits from her son Paul, who often brings his rescue dog, Sascha, adding joy to her days.
